Discover the beauty of the Florida Keys Overseas Heritage Trail (FKOHT), stretching over 90 linear miles from Key Largo to Key West. Following the path of U.S. Highway 1, this historic trail features 23 of the iconic Flagler Railroad bridges, offering a picturesque route for a variety of outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, and fishing. Some fishing bridges along the trail have been closed for safety, including the Ohio-Missouri, Ohio-Bahia Honda, Missouri-Little Duck, Lower Sugarloaf, and Niles bridges, remnants of Henry Flagler’s bygone railroad era. This multi-use pathway connects island communities and provides access to numerous ecological treasures, including 10 Florida State Parks. Campsites are available at select state parks along the route, offering a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the natural wonders of the Florida Keys. Please note that occasional community events and maintenance projects may affect trail access, but the FKOHT remains a must-visit destination for outdoor enthusiasts and history buffs alike.
