Welcome to Cedar Key Museum State Park

Step back in time at Cedar Key Museum State Park and immerse yourself in the rich history of the area. Spread across 18 acres, this park invites you to channel your inner naturalist, reminiscent of the legendary John Muir. Stroll through towering pines and majestic oaks as you gaze upon the sprawling salt marshes of Cedar Key, just as John Muir did during his visit in 1867, as evidenced by a state historic marker on the grounds.

Delve into the vintage charm of the museum’s exhibits, showcasing the design expertise of the University of Florida team from the 1950s to 1960s. These displays not only offer insights into Cedar Key’s past but also highlight the artistic mastery that went into creating them. The Whitman home within the park pays homage to St. Clair Whitman, featuring his remarkable collections of seashells and Native American artifacts. Step inside this meticulously restored home, transporting yourself to the 1920s and gaining a deeper understanding of the region’s heritage.

Discover the rich tapestry of Florida’s history at Cedar Key Museum State Park.
