In the year of 1964, the Florida Board of Parks and Historic Memorials (FBPHM) took possession of about 356 acres of land, establishing the base of what is now known as Grayton Beach State Park.
Throughout the years, further land expansions were made in 1985, 1993, and 1995, all aimed at enhancing the park’s facilities and preserving its natural beauty.
Named after the neighboring Grayton Beach, a historic settlement along the Gulf of Mexico in Walton County, the park holds a special place in Florida’s heritage.
The official opening of Grayton Beach State Park took place in 1968, marking the beginning of a new chapter in the park’s history. Situated adjacent to Grayton Beach with the Gulf of Mexico to its south, the park offers a unique blend of coastal beauty and historical significance.
