Ochlockonee River State Park, translating to “yellow waters,” is a unique blend of brackish, tidal surge, and fresh water. It is a pristine and deep river that eventually flows into the Gulf of Mexico. 

The state of Florida officially took ownership of the park on May 14, 1970, as part of a land exchange with the U.S. Department of the Interior, leading to its renaming as Ochlockonee River State Park. 

This park spans across 528 acres, encompassing stretches along both the Ochlockonee River and the Dead River, and it also abuts the St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge.
