Welcome to Marjorie Harris Carr Cross Florida Greenway

Welcome to the Marjorie Harris Carr Cross Florida Greenway! This extraordinary destination is the result of transforming one of the nation’s largest incomplete public works projects into a diverse natural wonder. Spanning Central Florida from the Gulf of Mexico to the St. Johns River, the Cross Florida Greenway occupies over 70,000 acres of land formerly known as the Cross Florida Barge Canal. This 110-mile linear park, which is more than a mile wide in places, offers a unique experience like no other.

With over 300 miles of trails catering to various activities such as paddling, hiking, mountain biking, equestrian rides, and paved multi-use paths, the Greenway is truly a haven for outdoor enthusiasts. It also serves as a vital wildlife corridor and boasts the distinction of being the first in Florida to feature a “land bridge” across a major interstate that benefits both trail users and wildlife, including black bears who use the Greenway as a significant corridor, particularly near the Ocala National Forest.

Furthermore, the Greenway safeguards pristine sections of the Ocklawaha River and provides campgrounds for those looking to immerse themselves in nature. A visit to the Marjorie Harris Carr Cross Florida Greenway promises an array of experiences, from tranquil river views to thrilling trail adventures.
